Cap Stable Episode 12 – Show Notes

Host Introduction

Lanctharus Onzo – Intrepid pilot and destroyer of all that is sacred.  In real life Lanc is one of several Councilors of the AIE Gaming Community,  He isthe responsible for overseeing the various games and activities the AIEGC is involved in, primary World of Warcraft where he is the guild master and head of one of the largest functional guilds in Warcraft.  He started playing EVE about June of 2012.  He is very bad at EVE but he has come to terms with that.

Hoots (Drewson Houten) – Space owl of amazing awesomeness. Playing since May 2012.  Lives in the smack dab middle of Wisconsin, plays EVE (really?). Got into gaming ages ago when he played the Zork Anthology way after its time on Windows 95.

Vailgeek – Miner, Industrialist, & Carebear. I spend most of my time in my cozy little corp working my fingers to the bone so that those bitter vets have lots of ships to blow up. I started playing EVE in 2009 and have played off and on ever since. I recently started playing EVE “full time” after leaving the raiding scene in WoW. I live in Colorado and enjoy the great outdoors and video games.

StupidGenius “Stu” Charante – Stealth bomber extraordinaire, Ratter of Delve, and member of AIEU/TEST. Currently building my wealth around Delve to help keep TEST’s space free from Enemies and Neutrals alike. Started playing EVE in Early May 2012 shortly after the Inferno expansion launched. My main motivator for checking out EVE reading reports of the BURN JITA event in early May 2012.

Outside of game, I am living in sunny Florida. I am also a play a few other MMOs such as RIFT, The Secret World, and Guild Wars 2, from time to time.

  • Fixed an issue where the contents window of the Inventory window would not update when closing a container or wreck via the Index tree.

 Miscellaneous

  • Fixed a client freeze that occurred in rare situation where there were lots of effects.

CHANGES

Agents and Missions

  • The CONCORD agent Christer Fuglesang has been promoted from level 2 to level 3.

CCP Begins a War on Bots

The Mittani dot Com recently reported on CCP coming down with a banhammer for players using botting software.

  • The report makes note that it appears CCP is actually monitoring systems running said botting software running on local machines, rather than detecting botting behavior by only looking at in-game activity.

  • Bans also may have been handed out for behavior related to real money transaction, though because botters and RMT’ers overlap, getting reliable data from the botting community is a little difficult due to the overlap of botting and RMT and the illicit nature of the whole affair.

  • Numbers of people banned have not been released by CCP, and CCP has not spoken on the matter.

  • Regardless, botting forums are in a tizzy over the matter. Botters: You are now on notice.

Section 7D of the EVE EULA:

“You agree that CCP may remotely monitor your Game hardware solely for the purpose of establishing whether in playing the Game and accessing the System you are using software created or approved by CCP, or whether you are using unauthorized software created by you or a third party in contravention of Section 6.”

State of the HBC Coalition – Montolio and some of the leadership knuckleheads within TEST Alliance Please Ignore have released a state of the Coalition recording.  We summarize and discuss the potential effects.

This recording is nearly 50 minutes long but here are the highlights:

  • Montolio has taken back his seat as leader of TEST.

  • Ingen has taken over as second in command, Micheal Yanai is the new Logi director.

  • Looking into offloading assets, changing rules, and changing the structure of things to aim for a more casual alliance and to offset the strains on people.

  • Discussion regarding Montolio’s temporary leave of absence

  • What makes a conflict with the CFC desirable.  Because EVE is boring right now and Sov grinds suck so fix this CCP!
  • Talks about some form of war game scenario thing.  It may involve structured combat with some stakes (hopefully) but without the sov grind.
  • 2 fronts right now, so although we’re looking to generate content, there are a lot of threats to deal with.

TEST is trying to fight off the forces of Stain, mainly BL and -DD- who are a threat that we should not and will not ignore. These forces are a lot like -A- and ignoring them would be a huge mistake. Do not engage these forces lightly.

EVE Vocabulary

Killmail – A killmail, refers to the in game mail that is sent to a person after they have killed another capsuleer. If multiple people, like in a fleet, assist in killing one capsuleer then only one will get the in game eve mail. You will often hear an Fleet Commander ask someone to link the killmail, they are asking whomever got the mail to link it in fleet so they can see the kill.

(Note: All fleet members who assisted the the capsuleer in getting the kill will have the kill appear in their combat log in their character sheet as well.)
